"To find out the value of a month...ask the parents of a preemie!"....soooooo true!!! Two months ago (well technically two months and one day ago) you were just entering the world, two months ago you each weighed 3lbs and 2oz, two months ago we were worried about bilirubin levels, CPAPS, bradycardias, oxygen desaturation, feeding tubes and head ultrasounds, two months ago we couldn't imagine what it would be like to have 2 healthy boys at home...so much has changed. Now you are sitting in your bouncy seats after eating 2 1/2 ounces of food (normally you eat more, but you had your shots today and are a bit tuckered out), now you are breathing like champions (even if you are both a bit snorty), now you are on heart monitors, however the number of bradies has greatly decreased and Mommy is starting to believe what the nurses always said, "it's just something they will outgrow", now you are practicing tummy time, holding up your heads and smiling "involuntarily", and now Mommy and Daddy get to wake up during the night to take care of two HEALTHY and happy little boys!! In just two months.....so much has changed!! Today we had your 2-month appointment at the pediatrician, which came with your 2-month shots - YUCK!! Those were NOT fun for you, but (not surprisingly) you took them like champs. You have both been through so much that a couple of shots were nothing!! The appointment went pretty well (Dr. Marx always says you both look perfect), but Mommy is having some trouble letting go of some fears. First of all, you both have something called a hydrocele (your cousin also has this isn't that weird?), which is fluid on your "boy parts" (I know....thanks a lot for sharing that right!!). This in itself is not a big deal, but it makes you more susceptible to hernias and Owen, Dr. Marx believes that you have a hernia, so we have been referred to a general surgeon to check it out. Emmett you have been referred as well, simply to rule out a hernia. Second, Owen, you have a few TINY hemangiomas on your body (pooling of blood vessels toward the skin). Dr. Marx has told Mommy not really to worry about this and she doesn't seem concerned at all, but unfortunately your Mommy is neurotic and went to "Dr. Google" and got herself good and scared!! Mommy struggles with letting her mind go to dark places instead of simply focusing on the positive. It's hard and it's something that Mommy will need to work on. Third, Emmett, Dr. Marx found that you have a sacral dimple (basically a dimple at your tailbone), this could mean spinal cord issues or it could mean nothing. Even if there are issues, they CAN be corrected, so Mommy is trying to focus on that! So, for anyone who is reading this, if you could take a second to think some positive thoughts, say a prayer, do a cheer, or send positive energy this way, we would greatly appreciate it! In all probability all of these things are nothing (except the hernia, but it can be corrected). However, as previously stated, Mommy's mind goes to a dark place sometimes so any light sent this way can't hurt!! Alright boys, Mommy is going to post this and attempt to figure out how to upload pictures to this new and shiny blog. Keep doing well angels, Mommy and Daddy love you and can't get enough!!!
Love, Mommy and Daddy
